Is Globalization a Threat to the Nationalist Imagination in the Philippines?

As the Philippines celebrates its centennial of independence, it is perhaps worth remembering that it was a pair of human inventions, revolution and nationalism, that gave birth to the Filipino nation. Of this pair, nationalismlargely a New World invention but which was transmitted to Filipino patriots through European contactswas the driving force in the struggle for national identity, in an era of epic and heroic contests.
